IBORO JAMES STROKE CENTER

Cerebrovascular accident or stroke is the third leading cause of death worldwide. Most of the stroke deaths are primarily in developing countries and account for as much as 80% of all stroke deaths worldwide. Additionally, Africa bears the greatest burden of hypertension, which is the most common modifiable risk factor for stroke. Our first project is currently underway and is focused on building a stroke center in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital(UUTH) which is at the heart of Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria.

The Iboro James Foundation has partnered with UUTH’s physicians and medical directors to build a stroke center to assuage this tremendous burden. The project is estimated at $350,000 to equip it with the necessary medical devices.
